How-to: Wire Cobweb

Posted by George Worman on 21st Sep 2018

Get into the spirit of Autumn and Halloween this year and add a little spook to your front door or window with this cute, black wire cobweb. All you really need for this project is some wire and pliers and you're all set to go. This project was quite fiddly and the sharp ends of the wire didn't make it any easier so exercise caution when bending the wire.

Everything you will need:

Aluminium Wire Black 2MM x 100G - find in store

Cutting Pliers - find in store

Pliers for bending wire - find in store

Step One:

Cut two pieces of wire around 20" long

Step Two:

Begin twisting both wires together using a pair of pliers to hold the ends. Leave some length at both ends.

Step Three:

Using your pliers, curl the ends of the wires into a spiral. This minimises any sharp points and adds a quirky touch to the design.

Step Four:

Form the main anchor threads of the cobweb by Bending the wires into a right angle.

Step Five:

Create the radius threads by twisting two wires (10" long) together. We made two using four pieces of wire but you can make as many as you like. Fix these to the centre of the right angle.

Step Six:

Add spiral threads by cutting small pieces of wire and attaching them to the radius wires. Continue adding them to the design until you are happy.

And there you have it!

A cute cobweb to spook up your front door or window this fall.
