1. Gerberas may look like they only have 1 flower, but actually, this large flower is made up of hundreds of smaller flowers.

2. You can find Gerberas in every single colour, except for blue. If you see a blue one, it's artificial. 

3. Gerberas are actually a type of daisy. 

4. Once cut, Gerberas can last for up to 14 days if stored in a vase. This makes them one of the longest-lasting flowers. 

5. Gerberas always turn towards the sun. They track the sun as it moves from east to west. 

6. Gerbera is the birth month flower for April.

7. The Gerbera flower was discovered in 1880 by Robert Jameson while operating a gold mine in Transvall, South Africa. 

8. Gerberas are the fifth most used flower in cut arrangements and bouquets. Roses, Carnations, Chrysanthemums and Tulips are the top 4. 

9. Gerberas are used in science. They are used as model organisms for studying flower formations. 

10. There are around 40 documented species of Gerberas around the world.
