How To: Christmas Candle Jar

Posted by Jessica Walton on 17th Nov 2016

Christmas is just around the corner!. Why not try making this festive, craft Christmas candle holder using our wide range of craft materials at Country Baskets.

Everything you need:

Kilner Push Top Jar
Craft Tissue Paper - Asstd Colours
Hemp Rope On Spool Ivory
PVA Craft Glue
Handwriting Pens
Pack of 6 Led Tea Lights 3.7 cm
Paint Brush (find in store)
Craft Pinking Shears (find in store)

Step One
Using a pair of pinking shears, cut triangles out of the sheets of tissue paper. Use as many different colours as you like.

Step Two
Now mix PVA glue with a small amout of water into a disposable container (The consistency of the mix needs to be runny) and begin covering the Kilner jar with the Tissue triangles. Build up the design by overlapping the tissue to create a forest effect.

Step Three
When you are happy with the design let the glue dry for one- two hours.
After the glue is dry, begin drawing tree designs onto the tissue using a black handwriting pen. These drawings can be as elaborate or as simple as you like.

Step Four
Wrap some hemp rope around the opening to add a natural and rustic look then tie into a bow.

Step Five
To finish the design add a sprig of holly and glue into place using a glue gun.

Now just add an LED tealight or two and there you have it. A simple yet effective Christmas decoration.
