How-To: Swinging Place Name

Posted by Ophelia Harry on 4th Jul 2018

This place name is super fun and really shows of your personality. It will make your guests smile as they take their seats. Follow our how-to so you create your own!

You Will Need:

Extra large hydrangea stem blue

Wooden craft sticks

Patterned or plain card

Glue gun

Scissors

Needle

Thread

Pen

Step 1 & 2

Cut two wooden sticks so you end up with x4 15cm lengths and x1 11cm.

Step 3

Using the thread, secure two of the sticks together creating an obscure 'x' shape.

Step 4

Repeat step 3, but keep checking that the joining point is the same as the other. Also check the width of the triangles created are the same. This insures they will stand together evenly.

Step 5

Stand your two 'x' up and place the shorter 5th stick across the top. Use the glue gun to secure the sticks in place.

Step 6

Cut off some heads from the hydrangea. Try to choose bigger ones and smaller ones.

Step 7

Glue a selection of flower heads onto the sticks.

Step 8

Cut out a rectangle and fold it in half (as pictured) Write the guests name on both sides.

Step 9

Thread a needle and pierce through the corner of the card just under the fold line. Holding the thread, push the needle back through the same hole. (You will end up with picture 9) Take the two ends and thread them through the big loop created and pull tight. This will secure the thread tight.

Step 10

Repeat step 9 on the other corner of the card. Take the ends of the thread and decide on a hanging length from the top bar of the stand. Once decided tie a tight knot and cut off any excess thread. Repeat with the other side, making sure the name card is level. Once done, you've finished!

There you have it, a fun swinging place name. Try adding a photo instead of a name card or add in more colour & texture on the stand itself either with paint, glitter or foliage.

Happy Creating !!
