Wedding Wednesdays: Centrepieces!

Posted by Jessica Walton on 12th Oct 2016

Centrepieces are a key aspect of how to dress a table at a wedding. Is bigger better? More extravagant or elegant and simple? Everything needs to be considered, how many guests at the event, shape and size of tables and what other decorations are planned. Having worked at many weddings I have seen people go for a whole manner of different things, from themed to plain and simple.

It is very important that your guests are able to talk to everyone on their table, so keep this in mind. Centrepieces can limit peoples view to the people opposite, meaning that is harder for them to mingle. Something that sits low to the table or is designed in a stemmed container works best as it allows you to create the look and style your going for, while allowing people to enjoy themselves.

Over the last two seasons we have seen lots of informal country style designs in bottles and jars and incorporating natural texture such as bark and jute, but the classic designs such as candelabra, large glass pieces and beautiful blossom trees are ever popular.

Large classic pieces lend themselves to bigger venues and create lots of atmosphere, if you choose large pieces for the tables keep the rest of your decorations simple.

The informal country look is simple and fun to create and you can add in quirky touches such as slate chargers, jute table runners and chair backs forming a story for the day with your accessories.
