A hat box full of roses is a classic Valentines Day gift for a loved one. With our tutorial, it couldn't be more simple to create a stunning floral arrangement. The best about making this yourself, is that you're free to play around with colours and different types of flowers.
We've linked all the products that we used below so you can shop directly from our site. We used a powder pink hat box to compliment the dusky pink roses. The posy pad (floral foam) we used is 18cm in diameter and fits perfectly inside this hat box.
If you're choosing to use real flowers, we recommend keeping the plastic inside the hat box as this will stop the cardboard from getting ruined by the water. For this arrangement, we used artificial roses as they last a lot longer. As the foam fits perfectly within the hat box, all you have to do is drop it in.
Once you've got your foam set up, you'll need to trim your rose stems. To do this, place the rose next to the hat box. You want the bottom of the flower to sit just below the top of the hat box. This is because you wont be able to push the flower in the whole way so you'll have about 2cm extra.
Use the trimmed stem to determine how much to cut off the rest of the roses. This will ensure all the roses are the same length and will make the overall finish a lot smoother.
When it comes to arranging the flowers, start from the inside out. Place a rose in the middle and then fill out from there. We used 10 roses, but you could add more if you wanted the final result to be more full. Alternatively, you could leave some space and fill in the gaps with chocolates!
