RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017

Posted by Jessica Walton on 26th May 2017

This week we attended the world's most prestigious flower show, RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Feeling inspired we wandered the show, visiting the artisan gardens, the world famous show gardens, the Great Pavillion, and of course the entries for RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year, which we're very proud to sponsor one of the florists, Tracy Rowbottom this year.

Take a sneak peak of the show here.

The Great Pavillion

Filled with beautiful plants and flowers, the marquee was the place to be if you wanted to discover new and exciting plant varieties. The growers exhibited thousands plants and flowers, from peonies and dahlias to strawberries and potatoes, we even encountered carnivorous plants! Each collection was exhibited in an innovative and inspiring way, which has left our design team feeling very creative - so keep an eye out for Chelsea inspired ranges in the future! See a selection of our photography below.

The Gardens

Each garden had a distinct feel and theme. Brimming with texture and colour, each one featured various plants and flowers that had all been planted on site to create that particular garden, however the gardens gave the impression that they had been there forever. The wild and rustic look was very prominent throughout, grasses and greenery with dainty meadow flowers, creating a natural feel throughout. This exact trend inspired a new range of artificial flowers that have just landed in-store here at Country Baskets, English Heath, perfect for achieving an effortless organic feel.

Florist of the Year 2017

Each florist had to create a kite for this year's competition. The standard of Kites for the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year was incredible, the detail, colour and structure of each piece was fantastic. A huge well done to everyone who entered, and to Victoria Antonietta Clemson for creating the winning design!

Tracy Rowbottom Sponsored by Country Baskets

Country Baskets were incredibly proud to sponsor Tracy Rowbottom, who is a fabulous florist and Country Baskets Creative Development Manager, so Tracy is involved in all creative tasks here at Country Baskets! Tracy was awarded a Bronze medal for the stunning Chinese Dragon design that she created, inspired by recent buying trips to China to source product. The design was very intricate and the structure even included paper that had been made by Tracy! Take a look at some of the photographs of Tracy's piece below:
