RHS Tatton Flower Show: Tracy Rowbottom

Posted by Jessica Walton on 26th Jul 2017

A wonderful part of any Flower Show is the demonstrations, florists from across the country are invited to showcase their skills and techniques to create something beautiful. This year, along with many other world renowned florists, Tracy Rowbottom demonstrated and did so with a range of Country Baskets products. Read what she had to say about the event and her experience below.

"Last week I spent two lovely days demonstrating in the Floral Design Theatre at RHS Tatton Park Flower Show which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was great to work alongside florists Julie Pearson, Jonathan Moseley, Jamie Price and Dennis Van Wonderen who are all on our florist team and regularly demonstrate in Country Baskets Stores.

We used an array of containers and sundries supplied by Country Baskets, each demonstrator made their own selections and it was really inspirational to see what each person selected and created with the products. As florists and demonstrators we are all very different and so it made for a very interesting and varied selection of designs and we had crowds of visitors stopping to watch, ask questions and generally enjoy the floral inspiration.

Julie and I had a gorgeous selection of English Grown flowers provided by Carol's Garden and I had no idea what was going to turn up so that made it extra exciting for me, I was able to look at my selection of materials and work on instinct, looking at the shape and form of the flowers and selecting sundries to match the shape and form of the fresh materials. At Country Baskets we have some innovative new containers such as the Masia range, white washed wood effect resin containers, the Woodland Natural Wood range and the Vaso Coloured glass range that lend themselves beautifully to floral arrangements, all of which proved popular with demonstrators. I enjoyed using them to create impact and point of difference in my designs but my favourite was definitely the design I made in the Woodland Natural Wood Trough.

I incorporated ribbons, tulle, paper covered wires, bead, dried and artificial materials into my designs and it was great to see the other demonstrators dipping into the huge range of sundries to achieve stunning completed designs.

RHS Tatton Park Flower Show is a great event with lots and lots to see and the weather was beautiful so I thoroughly enjoyed my time there doing the two things I love best, floristry and chatting to lots of people."
