Fringing and tassels are so hot this summer, and they are creeping up in all areas of your home. Gorgeous pieces can be bought pre-fringed, but can fetch a high price. If this trend is right up your street but you're not wanting to splash the cash, then this post is for you.
There's so much Interior inspiration, it could occupy you for hours. Sit and save things to the ‘If I had money and a house’ board, dreaming away. This post includes four quick DIY fringed objects and a lot of inspiration. They are really simple creations however adaptable to create something more elaborate for your home.
Fringed Mirrors
This is such a striking but simplistic aesthetic. Perfect for a minimal wall in neutral colours, or a busy textured wall adding extra pzazz. What ever your home is like, there's a place for this style mirror. Take a look at this video to see how quick it really is, then have a go yourself.
What you will need:
Anaphora 4ply yarn - shade Degas (buy in one of our stores)
Fringed Glass Hurricane Candle Cover
This idea just adds a little extra to your candle lit room. Taking the idea from the fringed mirror, a new one emerged. Using the same technique with the double-sided tape, it was quick, easy but effective. Although it has a straight line of fringing around the glass cylinder, you can use many different angles or layering to create different looks.
Products I used:
Peter Pan Double Knit Yarn Baby Pink (buy in one of our stores)
Glass hurricane cover (buy in one of our stores)
Plain Lampshade Revamped
Everyone has something in their house that could do with a little revamp. Perk up a plain beige lampshade by adding some colour through velvet ribbon and fringing in a bright chunky yarn. Now it wont be to everyone's taste, but all these products are here for your inspiration more than anything else. It's a very quick process using minimal materials, so a perfect Sunday afternoon activity.
Products I used:
Robin super chunky yarn apple (buy in one of our stores)
Velvet single sided ribbon hot pink 38mm
Funky Fringed Artwork
This piece is a piece of art, no functionality as such, just aesthetically pleasing. It is an easily adaptable idea, in order to create something more luxurious. Change the polystyrene for a metal ring, therefore giving the overall look a more expensive feel. Adding in more rings, creating a chandelier effect will give you more depth. Maybe add in a few extra colours to really jazz it up.
Products I used:
Anaphora 4ply yarn - shade Gauguin
